Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL)

No worries – ACL has your back, and so do we at PawHut! Our products come with consumer guarantees that we cannot (and would never want to) exclude. If a product does not meet these standards, you’re entitled to a remedy such as a refund, repair, or replacement – at no extra cost for major issues.

You should contact us if your item is:

  • Faulty or defective: Breaks unusually fast or does not work as expected (e.g., collar clasp failing).

  • Not as described: Doesn’t match the website photos or details (wrong colour, size, or material).

  • Unsafe: Poses a risk to your pet or you.

  • Not fit for purpose: Doesn’t perform as advertised (e.g., a water-resistant item that leaks immediately).

For major failures, you can reject the goods and choose a refund or replacement.
For minor issues, we will repair or replace the item.

Please contact us within a reasonable timeframe and include proof such as photos or your receipt.


1. Change-of-Mind Returns

We get it – sometimes a product doesn’t suit your pet as expected. For non-faulty items, PawHut offers a flexible change-of-mind policy.

Conditions:

  • Timeframe: Within 30 days of delivery.

  • Item condition: Unused, unopened, in original packaging with all tags attached, and resellable (no pet hair or odours).

  • Proof required: Order number or receipt.

  • Outcome: Store credit, exchange, or refund (minus any original shipping fees).

Excluded items (for hygiene and safety reasons):

  • Opened or used pet food, treats, supplements, grooming products.

  • Personalised or custom items (e.g., engraved tags).

  • Clearance, final sale, or “as-is” products.

  • Worn pet wear such as clothing or harnesses.

Return shipping is your responsibility unless the return is due to our error—then we cover all costs.


2. Faulty, Damaged, Incorrect, or Wrong Items

If your order arrives in the wrong condition, we’re on it immediately.

Please report within:

  • 30 days for faults.

  • Immediately for damaged items (photos on unboxing help!).

How to notify us:

  • Your order number

  • Clear photos of the problem, the product, and packaging

  • A short description of the issue

Our response:
You’ll hear from us within 48 hours. We may offer a free replacement, full refund, repair, or store credit.
PawHut covers all return shipping costs for faulty, damaged, or incorrect items.

If an item is not faulty after inspection (e.g., damage caused by your pet), it may be returned at your cost.


3. Refund and Remedy Process

We aim to make the process smooth and quick.

  • Refund method: Back to your original payment method or store credit.

  • Timeline: Refunds typically appear in 5–10 business days after processing.

  • Deductions: Only applied for any loss in value not related to a fault.

  • No restocking fees: Never for PawHut customers!

If a replacement is out of stock, you can choose a refund or store credit.


4. How to Return an Item – Step by Step

  1. Contact Us:
    Email support@pawhut.com.au or call 03 7067 3305 to confirm eligibility and receive return instructions/RMA number.

  2. Pack the Item Securely:
    Use the original or sturdy packaging. Include all accessories and your order number.

  3. Ship It Back:
    Send it using a tracked service (e.g., Australia Post). Keep your proof of postage.
    You are responsible for return postage unless it’s our fault.

  4. We Process Your Return:
    You’ll receive an email once we receive the item and process your remedy.

Tip: Insure high-value items for extra safety.


5. Non-Returnable Items and Exceptions

For health and safety, some items cannot be returned:

  • Gift cards or digital products

  • Items purchased from third-party sellers

  • Perishables past use-by date

  • Opened hygiene items

  • Returns after 30 days

  • Items without proof of purchase

  • Items damaged or worn by you or your pet
